Hot Springs to Phou Koun

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Player Piano

There’s a great view from my room, not through a window exactly, more through a gap in the wall.  You can only see out if you stand over the ‘ensuite’ squat loo.  Having carried my bike unaided up the staircase and into my room, I’m not sure how I’ll ever get it down, but right now, who cares?   I’m on top of the world in more ways than one; saturated with endorphins from making it up a 26km uphill ride that I’d feared was beyond me and the scenery on the climb was unbeatable. Awesome.

Oh and at the summit, totally unexpectedly was a shop that sold Mars bars. Kept in the fridge. The first chocolate I’d seen since I arrived, and the perfect reward on a memorable day. Enough said. The pictures will tell the rest.
